On the initiative of assistance dog owner Manja Myrrhe, the city of Strausberg has declared itself assistance dog-friendly. The city has published an article on the city website to educate the public. The shopping centre in Strausberg is also actively participating in the campaign.
The city declares on its website: “Strausberg is now an assistance dog friendly city. With this access campaign, the administration declares that assistance dogs will in future be officially allowed in the town hall, the museum and the libraries. The campaign aims to educate and make everyday life easier for assistance dog teams and owners. Assistance dogs and guide dogs are exempt from dog tax upon application.”
The “Assistance Dog Welcome” campaign was made possible by funding from the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS) and the Aktion Mensch.
