Assistance dogs welcome – in the service buildings of the city administration
The city of Pforzheim has joined the access campaign “Assistance dog welcome – here & everywhere”. The campaign was initiated by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and aims to ensure that people accompanied by
the principle that assistance dogs should have access to all public administration buildings.
With this, the city of Pforzheim is taking a further step towards realising the National Action Plan on the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD). All people should have barrier-free access to administrative services, even with assistance dogs. “In the future, this will be a matter of course in all buildings of the city administration where there is public traffic,” emphasises Social Mayor Frank Fillbrunn and adds: “The city of Pforzheim is pleased to take a further step towards an inclusive city society”.
To make the campaign visible to the public, stickers with the message “Assistance Dog Welcome – Here &
everywhere” on all official buildings of the city of Pforzheim. At the same time, municipal employees are informed about this and sensitised to the procedure.
The administrative buildings are displayed online in a corresponding “DogMap of assistance dog-friendly places”.
The “Assistance Dog Welcome” campaign was made possible by funding from the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS) and the Aktion Mensch.
