Exhibition Living with an assistance dog

Assistance dog teams are fascinating: They embody the will to overcome limitations.
The courage and will to live that manifests itself in the teams invites a change of perspective.
Public relations work is an important foundation for achieving recognition and support for assistance dog teams.
Our interactive traveling exhibition ” Living with an assistance dog” aims to provide information and build community throughout Germany.
It also serves as a platform for the action days of the three-year access campaign.

Many thanks to Aktion Mensch for making it possible for us to put together this exhibition. Your annual lottery ticket supports many valuable projects.

The exhibition uses attractive illuminated panels to convey what makes life with an assistance dog so valuable.
Visitors can find out how assistance dogs help with a variety of disabilities and what they mean to their people.
The exhibition also teaches the correct way to handle assistance dog teams.
Visitors explore the following questions, among others:

  • What is an assistance dog?
  • What restrictions do they help with?
    How?
  • How do they change the lives of those affected/the family?
  • Take a seat in a wheelchair to experience an assistance dog experience via VR film.
  • Correct behavior in dealing with teams
  • How does the training work?

Visitors can follow the stories of assistance dog owners on touchscreens and with headphones and watch assistance dogs in action.
Furthermore, the exhibition content is offered in English, with sound and translation by a sign language interpreter.
We attach great importance to accessibility and visitors can request assistance as required.

Many of the exhibits are interactive and the information panels consist of LED displays and light up.
The exhibition is also supplemented by audio and video contributions.
As a special highlight, visitors can take a seat in wheelchairs and experience a 4-minute VR 360 film.
The goggles create the feeling of being directly involved in the action – an experience that leaves a lasting impression.
Where possible, we enhance the actual exhibition with live demonstrations.

Visitors can help design large, colorful dog paws with a colored fingerprint, which will be presented to the German government at a solidarity event in 2021. They can also express their sympathy and support for assistance dog teams by taking a selfie with #AssistenzhundWillkommen.
These campaigns support the national access campaign “Assistenzhund Willkommen!” by Pfotenpiloten, sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.
They are sponsored by the Tierisch Engagiert initiative of the Fressnapf Group Germany.

The exhibition has so far been on display at the Hessentag and the Festival of Lights in Berlin.
At the turn of the year, it will be a guest at Frankfurt’s Hauptwache.
